Getting Informed is a critical step in your overall preparedness effort. There are several ways to get informed, including:
- Register. Tulare County's Emergency Notification System, AlertTC, can notify you via phone, text message, email, fax, and TDD/TTY during an emergency. Register for AlertTC to customize your notification preferences and provide alternate phone numbers for your home or work address. - Train. Find opportunities in your area. You may choose to learn CPR, certify as a Lifeguard, or learn how to operate an Emergency Shelter. The American Red Cross Central Valley Chapter is a great place to start!
- Volunteer. Find something that interests you - maybe its a Volunteers in Police Service Unit, Community Emergency Response Team, Search & Rescue Team, Ski Patrol, or the Medical Reserve Corps. There are countless opportunities available - visit HandsOnCentralCal.org to learn more.
