Be Informed

Being Informed is a critical step in your overall preparedness effort.  There are several ways to get informed, including:

  • Register.  Tulare County's Emergency Notification System, AlertTC, can notify you via phone, text message, email, fax, and TDD/TTY during an emergency.  Register for AlertTC to customize your notification preferences and provide alternate phone numbers for your home or work address.  Other systems are also available to keep you as informed as possible. • Train.  Find opportunities in your area.  You may choose to learn CPR, certify as a Lifeguard, or learn how to operate an Emergency Shelter.  The American Red Cross Central Valley Chapter is a great place to start!
  • Volunteer.  Find something that interests you - maybe its a Volunteers in Police Service Unit, Community Emergency Response Team, Search & Rescue Team, Ski Patrol, or the Medical Reserve Corps.  There are countless opportunities available - visit HandsOnCentralCal.org to learn more.
